We received this lovely new fresh flower arrangement yesterday.
Plus I think everyone received a nice orchid.
Yesterday after leaving Catalina Island we sailed past hundreds of small dolphins playing right alongside the ship.
What We Did Last Night:
We met Melissa & Jane in the Meridian Lounge for cocktails and canapes. The "wiener in a blanket" is one of our favorites. Then we decided on Sette Mari for our dinner. It was not one of best experiences there. The place filled up and it was extremely noisy with all the talking. Initially the wine service was very slow because they just did not have enough bar staff for that many people. Then my entree was not good. They offered to bring me something else but I had had enough appetizers to satisfy my tapeworm. Melissa did not feel well so left. I think all the noise bothered her. I seriously doubt that we will return to Sette Mari on this cruise.
We made it to the theater in time to barely get a second row seat. Kind of wished we were in back as would have walked out during the show. Nothing against the cast of singers and dancers as they are very talented. BUT, just do not care for the NCL production show influence with theme and content in their production shows. As background, NCL bought Regent and Oceania cruise lines a few years back. Now Regent's shows are produced and the casts trained in NCL facilities. The music is canned as well as some of the background vocals. We could not figure out what last night's show, Paradis, was all about. In our opinion NCL is just one step above Carnival, barely. I'm not sure Regent's older clientele really appreciates these type of shows. Oh, well, just our opinion. Probably not going to the other two production type shows later on in the cruise.
So I guess last night's dinner and show made for a bummer kind of night. This is a rare occurrence on Regent.
What We Did Today:
It is a nasty looking day outside with overcast skies and some fog. It is 59 degrees and we have a wind of 30 knots from the stern (aft) causing some ship movement. Not bad however, yet. We are cruising at about 20 knots in order to arrive in Cabo at noon tomorrow.
After our usual morning workout and getting cleaned up, I went up at noon to Prime 7 for lunch. In addition to the La Veranda buffet for lunch they also open Chartreuse and Prime 7 for a lighter lunch time menu on sea days. The other Regent ships opens Compass Rose at noon instead of the specialty restaurants like on here. Rebecca stayed in the suite and had her usual Atkins bar. Prime 7 was packed for lunch, and like last night, it was noisy with all the chatter. This is a talkative group!!
This evening is the Captain's Welcome Aboard reception at 6:00 pm in the theater. He will be introducing the senior staff. Afterwards, Rebecca and I have been invited to dine in Prime 7 with the General Manager, Massimo. I believe another couple and our friend, Marcia, will also be dining with him. The headliner entertainer in the theater tonight is a comedian, Ritch Shydner. Never seen or heard of him before but will go IF we finish dinner before his show starts. No big deal if we miss it.
