Background:
This is a small, rocky island just 29 miles due west of Long Beach, CA. It is 22 miles long and 8 miles wide with the highest point 3100 feet. According to the 2010 census 4100 people lives on the island with 90% of them living in the only city, Avalon. It is serviced by ferries from southern CA and does have a very small airport with only a 3000 foot runway (to short for airlines).
In the 1920's the island was developed into a tourist destination by chewing gum magnate William Wrigley, Jr. who also owned the Chicago Cubs baseball team. Just over a million people visit the island each year now. You may recall back in 1981 the actress Natalie Wood drowned in the waters here under questionable circumstances. Her and her husband, Robert Wagner, were vacationing aboard their motor yacht.

What We Did Today:
We had booked a hour long trolley ride around the town of Avalon for this morning. But cancelled because of having to tender ashore and it is pretty chilly out there. I did not bring a jacket on the cruise. So we went to the gym as usual. Lunch today was up in buffet. I weighed today and only gained 2 pounds in last 3 weeks on the ship. I call that a success!
We left our anchorage at 2:00 this afternoon and set a south-south easterly course down the Baja California coastline for Cabo again. Tomorrow will be a day at sea as it is 950 statute miles down to Cabo. We haven't see Jane & Melissa so far today. Nothing on tonight's menu in Compass Rose grabs us so may dine up in the Italian restaurant, Setti Mari. Tonight's show is the production show, "Paradis". We missed the first half of that show last segment as was dining at the Captain's table. We'll try to catch it all tonight.
What We Did Last Night:
Jane and Melissa joined us for dinner in Prime 7. Shambu, our waiter, is bringing my popcorn sundae. This is Melissa in photo of my sundae. We were pretty much the last people to leave the steakhouse last night. Show was half over so we all retired for the night. Besides lost an hour during night due to daylight savings time.
