THE ADVENTURE BEGINS

We packed on Friday, the 8th.  Earliest we have EVER been packed and basically ready to go.  Yes, we are anxious to find warmer climes.  All four of the bags we will be checking on airline weigh 48 pounds each.  Normally the weight limit is 50 pounds but as we are flying first class to DFW then business class from there to Santiago, so we can go up to 70 pounds.  No need however.
After many nights of poor sleep due to worrying about our flight out of Durango to Dallas, the day finally came.  Why worry, you ask?  Well, Durango winters can be very unpredictable and even the weather people change their minds daily.  Today, Monday the 11th, was the big day.  We woke up at 4:30 am but by 5:00 it started snowing.  We drove into town to the DoubleTree hotel for our pre-arranged shuttle at 6:30 for the Durango airport.  We had tickets for the 10:50 departure on American Eagle but went early to standby for the 8:12 flight.  Did not get on it as they had a weight restriction due to carrying extra fuel for Dallas weather and ended up buying off 23 passengers at $1000 per person.  Our 10:50 flight arrived on time from Dallas so we boarded and settled into our first class seats for trip to DFW.
Sorry, I am not a good selfie person.  We arrived DFW a half hour late but just glad to finally begin our new adventure.  Our good friend, Jane VanHarlingen, was waiting for us at the airport.  I am even happier to say all our checked luggage arrived in baggage claim also.  We are staying with Jane until Thursday evening when we will be flying from DFW to SCL (Santiago, Chile).
Here we are with Jane toasting our successfully making it to Dallas.  I will sleep well tonight.
